Trey Cooper - Yesterday and Today

Today was Trey's 7th birthday!
Trey is our 18th grandchild and 11th grandson.
He is a very important part of this large family
and a very important part of this smaller family.
I wrote about Trey in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015 in posts that tell a lot about Trey and how he's changed over the past 7 years.  Further, the following pictures will show how he's changed over the past 7 years.

So now I want to talk about Trey's todays and what's been going on in his life during the previous year.  I talked with him tonight and the first big change that we discussed was his missing two front teeth.

We also talked about him starting first grade this year
And I remembered that he played flag football with his dad coaching!
Also this year he went to Gulf Shores over the holidays with his giant extended family on his mom's side and he's looking forward to going again in a few days.
But the most important story I heard about a change in his life was the one he told.  It seems that their community pool has a giant slide and up until a certain point this summer he wasn't tall enough to go on it and he was GLAD because it was TALL!!!  Then all of a sudden he was tall enough and he was at the top and he really didn't want to go down but he did and it was awesome!  After that he's been on the slide all the time.
And that's the kind of kid he is.  He does everything with enthusiasm.
But that doesn't mean he's careless in any way.  He thinks things through and tests them out.

And he has a wonderful imagination.  This series started with a feather he found that almost immediately became a fierce weapon.

And he won that battle too.  I saw the whole thing.  Also, he's always been athletic,

a good driver,
and a regular party guy.
He's very close with his brother and sister,
his mom and dad,
and his best friend cousin, Eli.
He's fun and popular in school and in his neighborhood - maybe because he's always willing to share
and take good care of friends like Luigi.

in addition to all that, he's a pretty good bubble blower.
Most importantly he's a great reader with an amazing vocabulary and he's one of the most likable, thoughtful, and kind kids you could ever meet.  We're very proud of Trey and we love him very much!  We've already wished him a very happy birthday so now we're wishing him a year filled with happiness and lots of giant slides and other obstacles to triumph over!
