Emma

Today is Emma's second birthday!
Emma is our 5th great grandchild and second great granddaughter.
She's an important part of this large family
and an important part of this smaller, large family
and a very important part of this beautiful family.
I wrote about Emma on her birthday last year and I wrote about her birth in a post in 2015 and clicking on those links will show a lot of pictures and tell about her birth and her first year.  So now I'll just post a few pictures here

and talk about what's been going on in her life during the past year.  Always a great talker, she's now a grown-up, even-greater talker.  When they visited last week she bent over to examine a spot on the floor and announced that Knox had spit up.  Then marched into the kitchen and told me she needed a paper towel.  Of course she cleaned up the spot very thoroughly, threw away the paper towel, and went on with her day.  She was very important and so very cute.
But being so grown up doesn't keep her from partaking in some of Knox's activities.  After all, it's not a bad idea to keep a foot in each world.
During the past year, she learned about saying 'cheese' for the camera and does it with great enthusiasm - when she wants to.
Other times she hams it up
or just coyly smiles her sweet Emma smile.
Also she's ventured into the big girl world of potty training with some success but she's not quite there yet.  She shares a room with big sister Aubrey and they get along quite well.  Aubrey understands when Emma wants to share the seat she discovered and is sweet and loving about trying it out.

She also has a very special bond with oldest brother, Jack

loves fishing, and last night held a crayfish for the very first time (something that I've STILL not done.  lol)

Another change for her this year was becoming a big sister.  Little brother, Knox, was born when she was only a little over 15 months old and she loves being his big sister.
During their visit last week, we got to see a lot of Emma and it was SO fun.  She's smart, inquisitive, and quirky.
She has a mind of her own and a pose that can't be resisted - her request to be picked up.

She's loving, fun (really hilarious), and absolutely adorable.  We had a great time when they visited and can't wait until they come back.  In the meantime, Happy Birthday to one of the sweetest, cutest, little girls EVER.  We love you so much, Emma!
