Shrinkvivor Challenge Check-In #4

Is it just me or is it getting harder and harder to lose weight? And if it is, is that because consistently losing is an offense to the body so it fights you? Or is it possible that I'm not as dedicated as I was at first when the weight seemed to be melting away? It seems to me that I remember eating a lot more carrot and water snacks than I'm eating now. I'm still watching my points carefully but a couple of times found myself in situations where I had to estimate and maybe I was too kind to me.

I did Shred every single morning and I'm still doing level one and then starting level two. I'm finding level two much more challenging and it's a slow go working into it very far. I never go backwards though and try to go a tiny bit farther every day.

I've also walked everyday but now that I've been concentrating on speed, I'm not walking as long. I'm not blaming the challenge though. It's more a matter of poor planning and the darkness setting in so much earlier now. Of course I have to admit that even though I thought I always did my walking at a reckless pace, I'm finding out that I didn't; and that now when I do a mile in record time, I think I'm too tired to do a couple more. At any rate, I got my time down to 12:59 which, considering I started at 15:43, is probably pretty good. Obviously I sprinkled some running throughout.

I've done pretty well with my fruits and vegetables and my water but I have to say that when I did excellent at first, I really had results.

And now I have a cold. I started with a sore throat over the weekend, progressed to more cold symptoms yesterday so that I was sure I was getting one, and today, I've got it. No "little" cold. Full-blown miserable, tired unhappy cold.

On the bright side, I lost 1.6 lbs. Not as much as I would have liked but I lost and that's great. I would moan a little bit about it not being more, but after last week, I feel lucky to have survived without getting popped at least once. That feedback had me smiling all day and really appreciating the progress I had made.

My total since the challenge started on September 15th is 10.6 lbs. Now I can see it and feel it and that's awesome. I just need to get my mojo back and sprint for another 10 pounds before the end so that I can get that mini shopping trip that Mr. Right promised me.

  2. Alright. Here's the deal. If I here you complain ONE MORE TIME about "only" losing 1.6 pounds, things are going to get hairy. Next time I drive to Illinois, I'm making a pit stop along I-80 and I WILL FIND YOU.

Take pride in what you are doing, Mary. You've lost 10 pounds in less than a month!!!

  5. Awww, I hope you feel better soon, Mrs. H!!!

1.6 pounds is GREAT!!!!!!! Don't think it's not amazing, okay. You rock! And your fastest mile is the BOMB. WOW! Lots of people who run the entire mile cannot even go that fast, and look at you!! When I did the SD 1/2 marathon, my averaged out pace was 12:45 per mile and I ran the entire thing. Be PROUD of yourself!!
