Shrinkvivor Challenge Check-In #5

What a week it's been!

I took the Shrinkvivor Fitness Challenge very seriously this week. VERY seriously. And I walked until I didn't have time to walk anymore. A lot of my walking was done pushing a stroller. That way I was able to kill two birds with one stone so to speak. And a lot of my walking was done at Striebel Pond. This week I walked over 30 miles. And I'm really proud of that.

I'm also proud of the fact that I've continued with the daily Shred and I've moved a tiny bit farther into Level 2. And that's after I've finished Level 1 every single day.

So, I would have thought that I'd lost maybe 5 pounds, possibly 10? I knew it would be good - but - again I was disappointed. I lost 1.2 pounds. Of course, I'm glad but I'm not. I don't know what else I can do. I stay within my points, and I exercise like a crazy woman. I've tried to keep my water intake up (but am I hedging a little bit here?) and I've tried to get my five servings of fruits and vegetables every day (but am I hedging a little bit here?).

I won't deny that I'm impatient to lose this weight. I can't wait. And I watch Biggest Loser and think that there's no reason for me not to do what they're doing. I'm a little less judgmental now though. It used to be if someone lost one or two pounds, I was a bit scornful. I always thought, "Well, she's not really trying". Now I think. Oh no. What went wrong?

Multiple people have told me that if this were easy, we'd all be skinny; and I guess it's true. This is one hard road. I feel like my shopping trip is slipping away because it is and it's going to take me longer than I thought to get where I want to be.

But the good news is that my resolve is still strong. I believe in my heart of hearts that if I keep doing what I'm doing (except with more water and fruits and veggies), one of these weeks I'll have a more dramatic loss.

In the meantime I'll just keep on keepin' on.

  1. Sometimes our bodies just don't do what we want them to. You are doing great with your miles and on top of that shredding! Sometimes the plateaus come and you don't know why. Just keep on keepin' on is a good philosophy! You'll get that shopping trip.

  2. Sometimes our bodies are only willing to lose so much. Are you eating any of your activity points and your flex points? Maybe with all of the exercise you might need to eat a little bit more.

I still think you had a great loss. And 30 miles walking? Awesome!

  4. Mrs. H, you are amazing. THIRTY MILES? WOW!!!!! That's just a crazy amount of walking, and I'm so proud of you. I agree with Tracie, though. Are you eating enough? I said the same thing to Nancy. I know there were weeks when I busted my ass and had little or no loss at all; and I would go back and look and realize that maybe I didn't eat enough. There are weeks when your body just needs more fuel, especially when your pulling 30 miles and Shredding daily. What it came down to for me was just adjusting. One week I'd add in some points and wait to see what happened.

It is a long road, and it feels insane having to 'waste' a week eating more in order to figure out if that's what you need, but trust me, you need to do it.

With all that said, CONGRATS on your loss!!!! You lost over a pound, which is more than 4 sticks of butter :) Think about it that way!

  7. Wow my friend...30+ miles is so awesome and then still shredding besides. You are a rock star. A 1.2 pound loss is great too. I have maintained for the last two weeks. This coming week, I am going to track my food no matter what and see if maybe I do need to eat more. If Christy thinks thats our problem, we better check it out. We'll get this right yet. Are you doing the new non fitness challenge??????

  8. 30 miles, holy cow. You walked a marathon plus!!

It's the muscles! Does your scale measure fat% because I'd bet my bottom dollar that your number moved significantly!!

Good work. And how fun that you got so much stroller time!! ;-)

  9. Mary, did I read correctly that you think you should be losing as much as the contestants on BL? You are setting yourself up for a lot of disappointment if that's the case.

That is a TV show. NOT real life. You are losing weight EXACTLY as fast as your body needs too!
