Rustic was kind of hard for me mainly, I guess, because I wasn't sure what rustic means. My impression was always that it meant 'old' but when I checked my thesaurus, it said pastoral, country, rural, bucolic. So I went out and took some pictures that said pastoral to me like this one:
But, although I'm proud of this picture, I feel like it missed the mark. So I'm bringing this picture to the table. It's a picture of the site of my parents' rural home. The house has been razed but the site is still there. The house was surrounded by a canopy of trees and in the foreground you can see the daffodils that my mother planted many years ago.
And here's a closeup of what's left of the swing that brought so much fun to so many children (including Beth) when they were young.
And finally, below are the pictures that represent what I REALLY thought rustic meant:
To see many more, much better examples of rustic, go to Beth's site and check them all out. And, if you really want to have some fun, take a couple of pictures and post them.

I love the memory pictures of your parents' place. The history is there, and thanks for sharing it with us.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea for rustic. I love how the pump is leaning. Thanks for sharing your memories.
ReplyDeleteGreat captures and memories
ReplyDeleteA lot of great examples, I think the water pump is my favorite. Very cool shots :)
ReplyDeleteI really like the pump surrounded by the flowers. My parents have something like that at their house, and I just love it.
ReplyDeleteWow, great photos Mom. The ones of Grandma & Grandpas house (where it used to be) is awesome, it really brought back some memories. I love seeing Grandma's daffodis and the rope where that swing used to be, man did we all get alot of use from that swing.....
ReplyDeleteAmy
Oh..I love that picture of the farm house!! What a beautiful place you live by!
ReplyDeleteAwesome barn with the date on it. Great rustic sightings!
ReplyDeletei like the photos of your parents' place - it's nice that your mom's daffodils are still there. that next to last picture of a barn/house is really cool. it looks great in full-screen :O) thanks for sharing with us.

Great captures this week - love the well
ReplyDeleteAwesome shots! I love the daffodils!
ReplyDeleteMrs. H, you did a GREAT job! I love all of them. The site of the old home is wonderful, the lighting, the daffodils, the trees! WOW!! You're getting really good :) I also love the deer so much. I thought about using a deer as well, but could never find time to capture one this week (even though about 30 of them live in my front yard!).
ReplyDeleteOutstanding job this week!!! I'm super-impressed!
Wow! These are awesome pictures! Thank you for sharing memories with us. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat job! And, I am with you on what I though rustic meant :)
ReplyDeleteMary, I think these are absolutely rustic, from your first shot to your last. I especially love the old hand pump. The colors are great (was the sun setting?)
ReplyDeleteGreat captures this week!
I love each and every one of these. but man, those daffodils and knowing grandma held those bulbs in her hands, makes my heart hurt and miss her so much. (and makes me want to dig some up and place in my yard.)
ReplyDeleteLOVE LOVE LOVE these captures, Mom.
Great job! I really like the barn one!
ReplyDeleteWow!!! These are all fantastic! I seem to be using that word in my comments a lot today. But it's an accurate one. I adore the 'Beware of the dog' photo. I'm not sure what it is...I just really like it a lot.
ReplyDeleteI hadn't realized that you were Beth's mother. No wonder I like you so much!!! :-)
I LOVE THE BARN...and love photographing barns...
ReplyDeleteWOW!!!
ReplyDeleteI am very impressed...I "enjoyed" all of the pictures, the deer one caught my eye of course but seeing the daffodils and the SWING...I had my nose on the screen to see all of the detail. GREAT JOB!!
Oh, and would you email me those shots in a large format, I'd love to use one as my background!!
Lori
Great pictures! I love the building in the one before last.
ReplyDeleteMom, these pictures are amazing! Each one better than the last!
ReplyDeleteMy personal favorite is the beautiful canapy trees with the daffodils. And the one of what's remaining of the tire swing...I feel it in my heart when I look at it. I can't believe an old broken off rope can bring back so many emotions.
Awesome job on these pictures! You've really out done yourself!!!
